Huntsville's Rocket City Practical Shooters have moved to a new range!
The Rocket City Practical Shooters (RCPS) of Huntsville have moved to a new range. The range is located about 3 miles south of Woodville, Alabama and
1 mile north of Grant Alabama. The range, which has been home to the North Alabama Regulators Cowboy shooters and the rimfire multi-gun matches, is a private land range.
Action pistol bays were dug in by the land owner and plans are for the RCPS to utilize these dirt berm bays for USPSA and Speed Steel Matches. The first USPSA match was held
on April 14, 2012 and the first steel match was held on April 28, 2012, both with great success. . The range is in infant stages and is being improved on a daily basis. To date
we have laid gravel in 5 of the 8 planned shooting bays. Eventually we plan to have 8 full shooting bays complete this year.
The land also contains a large pavilion with
full kitchen, running water with flushable outhouses, 40 camper sites with water and electric hookups, and a primitive camping site. The pavilion also contains stats rooms
and rooms with beds for rent.
The range will host the Alabama State Ruger rimfire challenge in May 2012 and the land owner has been contacted by Ruger to host the National Ruger Rimfire
Challenge in either 2013 or 2014.
